DO WE PLAY? (2017) – Horror Short Film by Tony Morales
Do We Play? is a 2017 horror short film written and directed by Tony Morales. Running just over three minutes and relying on a concise, dialogue-free approach, the film presents a simple yet unsettling premise: a woman alone in a house discovers that she may not actually be alone, and that someone — or something — wants to play with her.
The short film was created specifically for the 15th edition of Jameson Notodofilmfest, where it began its festival journey. The official festival listing includes the film in the Horror category, written and directed by Tony Morales and starring Maricielo Pajares, Gonzalo Escalona and Estela Alcaide.
Do We Play? subsequently continued its journey through different fantastic and horror film festivals and events in Spain. Among its most notable appearances was Terroríficamente Cortos – Festival de Cine Fantástico de Castilla y León, where it was part of the Official Selection, chosen from almost 700 submissions. It was also selected for the XXIX Marató de Cinema Fantàstic i de Terror de Sants, one of Barcelona’s longest-running genre film events.
The short was also a finalist at the Blood Film Festival in Fuenlabrada, becoming one of the nine finalists of the 2017 edition competing for the festival’s awards.
It was additionally screened at UMACINE – University of Málaga / Contenedor Cultural, as part of a program dedicated to short films by filmmakers from Málaga.
With Do We Play?, Tony Morales continued developing the horror language he had begun with KU, further exploring suspense, atmosphere and the fear of the unknown.
